Teaching Philosophy; General
My philosophy on education is that each student is an individual. Not only as an academic individual, but also as a person. I believe that one of the most important aspects of teaching is relationships. Having a strong relationship with each student allows students to trust and respect the teacher. I believe that building strong, respectful relationships is important to the learning process. A teacher is not only in a student’s life to help him or her learn the content material, but to teach that student how to succeed in life.
The lessons and activities in an academic setting should also provide students with life skills, such as; problem solving, critical thinking, collaboration, curiosity, and the want to succeed. I believe that teaching should provide students with the tools to solve and understand the material at hand and to encourage students to think critically about the material.
I value the different learning preferences of my students. Each student is different and they may learn better in some ways compared to others. As a teacher, I will do my best to provide students with a multitude of ways to learn the material and to create differentiated, rigorous, and engaging lessons to help my students learn.

Teaching Philosophy; Management
Classroom management is an extremely important part of teaching. This sets the routines, rules, and environment that students and the teacher together will be learning and growing in. I believe that students are in charge of their own actions and that they must take responsibility for them. The teacher will serve as a guide and leader to enforce more strongly when needed. Consequences will have to take place to help the student learn from their behavior. The consequences will be logical that align with the action. It is necessary to create an environment that is welcoming, safe, supportive, and conducive to learning to meet the students' physical and psychological needs. I believe that being a mix of an assertive and democratic teacher will help maintain a positive position in the classroom and with the students.
In order to create a welcoming, safe, and supportive classroom these actions are needed:

Teaching Philosophy; Technology
Technology can be a great instrument in the classroom. In today's society our students are using technology all the time. Technology is so imbedded in their lives, so we need to incorporate the use of technology in our classroom. I believe that some of the most creative and effective learning can be done through collaboration and technology can be used in the classroom to encourage collaborationTechnology can be used to encourage collaboration in the classroom. Specifically in math classes, collaboration can help students because they are teaching each other. The students can help each other think of the material in different ways and learn form each other.
Using technology in the classroom provides students with connections between the content and their own lives. This is very important and one of my main goals as a teacher. If I can relate math to my students lives, I think that they will be more excited about the material and understand why the material is important. By using technology in the classroom, we are providing our students the tools of a digital citizen. We are allowing them to practice with these tools and when they enter the work force they will be competent digital citizens with skills to succeed.
Using technology in the classroom gives us another medium to help our students engage with the material in a that is common among these students.
